Our Farms

Meet Althea our Berkshire Pig farmer from Vermont!

Althea, Pig Farmer, VermontAlthea raises authentic and certified Berkshire pork on her picturesque farm in Bridport Vermont. On one side you can view the Adirondacks and on the other you see the Green Mountains. All of her pigs lead a quiet happy life and are pasture raised with each other grazing grass and legume pasture in the Champlain Valley. Her Berkshire and Heritage breed Tamworth pigs produce the best pork you will ever taste! Their grass/hay diet is supplemented with whey from local cheese makers, all natural grains, our own produce, apples, pumpkins and nuts in season.

Grass Fed Beef from Archer Angus, Local and Delicious!

We are lucky enough to have Ray Buck as our Premiere Farmer for our local angus beef. September. One taste of his buttery luscious beef and we knew the Savenor’s customers would love this. Ron met with Ray last year and started working on our whole animal program and we are now bringing 5 head at a time!

The success of the beef is the result of Ray’s unwavering respect for his line of Angus cattle. They are bred for the quality of its beef and its ability to thrive on the alfalfa that is grown on Ray’s land and the foraging fields where they roam in the north-lands of Central Maine.

The cattle live as a free ranging herd moving from one fresh pasture to the next. From
early spring until late fall the herd lives on a grass foraged diet. During the winter months, they are fed round bales of grass which have been harvested from their fields.

Ron Savenor and Ray Buck

Ray and Linda Buck run all their operations on family farmland in rustic Chesterville, Maine.  Ray’s family started a dairy farm here in 1826 and Ray’s grandfather brought the first Herefords in the United States in 1855. We’re talking tried and true farming! More importantly, Archer Angus takes pride in progressive herd nutrition, extensive herd health programs and low stress management facilities. Its the goodness of venerable New England farming with respect for sustainability and more importantly a love for healthy happy cattle.

Colorado Superior Farms

Savenor’s Lamb is raised at Colorodo Superior Farms. Their Pure Lamb USDA-approved program surpasses all market requirements: it includes tracking the animal from birth, using no added hormones or antibiotics, using only vegetarian feed, minimal processing, and a continuously audited humane ranching practice. The lamb we receive is raised on a mixture of grains and grasses for a rich and buttery traditional lamb flavor.

Heritage Acres

Savenor’s pork is raised by the small family farms of Heritage Acres. Heritage Acres ensures that their pork is humanely cared for, antibiotic free, free of large-scale confinement systems. The animals fed natural grains and have access to fresh air and water.
