Cambridge Store
This
beloved location has been around since 1939 when Ibrahim Savenor came
from Lithuania and opened up shop. In 1992 it suffered a devastating
fire was finally restored in 2005 to wide acclaim. Savenor’s Cambridge
became a landmark when Julia Child and Jack Savenor struck up a kinship
that lasted throughout their lives. Jack Savenor became Julia’s butcher
and would source and provide items that Julia needed. She brought Jack
on her televised show and history was made. Loyal customers fondly
recall times when they would find Julia in the store and would be
peeking in her basket to see what she was bringing home. When Ronald
took over the business he became Julia’s butcher and she encouraged him
to reopen the Cambridge location to its original glory. When you come
by the store you can see where Julia signed her initials and infamous
“Bon Appetite” into the front entrance sidewalk. (insert pic here) Some
of our customers are celebrities some are neighborhood residents. All
of our customers love good food and we love to provide it! We are
fortunate to be the awarded numerous Best of Boston by Boston Magazine,
Boston’s Best by the Improper Bostonian and Boston Phoenix and
accolades from Citysearch, Yelp, Cityvoter and TV Diner. Come and shop
where the Schlesinger’s, Kennedy’s, Rockefeller’s and Julia shopped! ![]() ![]() |
